ABOUT ME
Meet Esther ‘Esi’ Mongo
I am the founder and doula here at MWASI | MAMA. I became a doula after hearing countless stories of discomfort and unnecessary challenges in the birthing room from friends and family. I felt compelled to exercise my activism through empathy and compassion by providing comfort while advocating for women during this critical time. I believe that all women deserve to have the birthing experience they desire. While Mama rides the waves of surges that bring her closer to her baby, I believe she should feel empowered and equipped with the resources that reassure her that she is the anchor of her birthing room.
Why I Created Mwasi | Mama
Mwasi | Mama is more than just birth support—I wanted to create a sacred space where women are reminded of their innate divinity and power. This isn’t just about titles like “mother”, “wife”, “sister”, “daughter”, “auntie” and “grandma”. It’s about embracing all you are and honouring your authentic self in every role. Mwasi | Mama is where women are encouraged to express themselves fully while gaining the knowledge, tools, and support needed when they feel most vulnerable. At its heart, Mwasi | Mama is about community, love, and compassion—a space where you can connect, grow, and be uplifted by a circle of sisterhood.
THE MWASI | MAMA METHOD
-
COMPASSIONATE CARE
Our role extends beyond just preparation; we provide consistent, compassionate support throughout any stages of a woman’s journey. From pregnancy and postpartum period to a spiritual awakening and self discovery.
-
EDUCATE + EMPOWER
We prioritise informed decision-making, equipping mamas with knowledge and resources to feel empowered in their choices.
-
PERSONALISED PLANNING
Every client’s journey is unique, and we honour this by creating customised plans that align with their specific needs, values, and circumstances.
-
BUILDING TRUST
Our sessions always begin with deep, empathic listening. We want to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where mamas and women can openly share their fears, desires and hopes for their journey.
-
Community + Sisterhood
We value the power of community and shared experiences. Centring sisterhood, where women can find connection and solidarity with others fuels our work, especially during these trying times.
-
HOLISTIC
We focus on the whole person, considering physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of wellbeing.
